I have come to the conclusion, after long thought, that I maybe, sorta, kinda, just a little, burned myself out on The Witches’ War. Just a little! I am NOT stopping writing on it, so don’t panic! I have book two already fully written! And book three is half-written! But I have spent the past month working on a different series, the Chronicles of Aea, more specifically, Shadow of the Phoenix. To be clear, I made myself a tentative writing goals list for the year, and publishing book two of the Witches’ War is first on the list! (And the third book is on that list, too!)
Speaking of my writing goals, here’s what I’ve got planned. Now, if my imagination or (SQUIRREL!!!) ADHD make me veer left for something else, I can’t help that! LOL But this is my 2025 writing goals list!
- Edit, get cover made, and publish, The Crystalline Shadow, book two of The Witches’ War
- Complete writing, edit, get cover made, and publish, The Witch Crystal, book three of the Witches’ War
- Edit, get cover made, and publish, The Lost Prime, a prequel novella of The Witches’ War
- Edit, get cover made, and publish, Genesis Mage, book one of Shadow of the Phoenix: Ihllaea’s Choice
- Begin writing book four of The Witches’ War, called The Forgotten Element
So that’s it! Goals to reach for! I’m not one of those folks who obsess over goals, though. I’m going to work hard to make them happen, but if I can’t make them, I’m not gonna be upset. I’ll do my best, and know I did, while knowing I’m not stopping or upset because I didn’t reach them all. (I’ve done this before, can ya tell?) My goals are things to work toward, not hard and fast stuff I can’t achieve.
This list? I very much believe it is achievable, considering that every single thing on that list except The Witch Crystal is already written! And The Forgotten Element, of course. Although…honestly, I’ve already got scenes for that book written, though not much. Maybe an eighth of it, at most, is already put down on paper, so to speak.
Anyhoo, gonna get back to work now. I’m working on Genesis Mage today, and it’s a pure pleasure to be back on my beloved world! Don’t worry, though. I’ll be back on Earth with my witches and Oliver very soon!
